Hand blown rainbow glass or by Playful Flame Glassworks, crafted in Granisle, BC with vibrant color

Based in Granisle, BC, Playful Flame Glassworks is the creative studio of glassblowers Nicholas and Ankeeta Kitras. For them, glassblowing symbolizes the delicate balance of marriage—heat and patience, fragility and strength.

Nicholas, a second-generation glassblower with an applied arts degree from Fleming College, and Ankeeta, a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate specializing in glass from the Alberta College of Art and Design, combine their talents to create timeless, handcrafted glass pieces. Each creation begins in a 2,100°F furnace, shaped by Nicholas’s expert hands and finished with Ankeeta’s eye for quality and detail.

Richard Currie is a glass artist who brings light, colour, and movement into everyday spaces through handcrafted glasswork windows, sculptural glass statues, and intricate hanging pieces. With a deep respect for the natural world and a passion for storytelling through form and colour, Richard’s work transforms glass into living art.

From luminous stained and leaded glass windows that cast vivid patterns across a room, to elegant glass statues that play with shape and reflection, each piece is thoughtfully designed and masterfully made. His hanging glassworks—often suspended like floating jewels—capture light from every angle, creating a dance of colour and shadow that shifts with the day.

Whether installed in a home, public space, or gallery, Richard Currie’s glass art invites viewers to pause, reflect, and see the world through a different lens.
